I’m going to say something that to some might seem controversial. However, I believe in my heart of hearts that it is true. And that is that too often we pray too meekly from almost a fear that our prayers won’t be answered. But in Mark 11:22-25 Jesus says, “Have faith in God. Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (NSV)
This passage does not say to pray from a point of weakness. It does not say that you should approach God with the belief that you are unworthy of what you are asking. No. Instead, it says that if you believe what you are asking for is already yours, you will receive it through the power of prayers to God.
Further, it is important that we approach God from a position of love, forgiving those who we need to forgive before asking God for our needs. One final, crucial step to achieving abundance is to have a grateful heart not only for what we currently have but also for what we will have in the
Confidence in God to Answer Our Prayers
The author of 1 John 5:14-15 says, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
Again, here is the idea that if we pray not only does God hear us, but he will answer us. If we believe this, truly believes that God wants to provide for us, truly believe that he answers our prayers, then we will get what we ask for.
Now, of course, this does not mean that God will grant illegal or harmful things. We must as Proverbs say live in righteousness. We must approach our fellow human beings with love. We must forgive our friends and our enemies. Jesus said that if we just love God above all else and love others as we love ourselves, everything else will fall in line.
We Are Children of God
God is our parent who loves us above all else. I know that when I look at my children, I try my hardest to give them everything I can, as long as I know it won’t hurt them in the long run. I don’t think that our relationship with our heavenly father is any different. Further, sometimes as a parent I choose not to give my child what they want in the moment when I know that something better is just around the corner. Similarly, I believe that if I ask for something and it seems God is not answering my prayer, this is because he has something better in mind, something beyond my own comprehension in how good it can be.
Powerful Prayer for Abundance
I want to close this post with a sample of a powerful prayer that I say daily abundance that truly has worked wonders in my life. “God, I ask you to send me massive abundance, more than I can even imagine. Bless every area of my life. Thank you for all the debts that you have erased. Thank you for all the money that’s in my bank. Thank you for my family and my life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.” And this is the prayer that I send your way today, dear reader.
